What PCR Test Do I Need for Travel?

As of Monday, October 4, the UK had only one country on its red list of high-risk destinations, while the others were deemed safe to visit. For double-jabbed travellers returning to the UK, the Covid test is no longer required. Before, during, and after a journey, Covid testing can be conducted.

Are PCRAntigen, Or Lateral Flow Tests Needed for Travel?

To identify the virus’s genetic material known as RNA, doctors use the PCR test, which stands for Polymerase Chain Reaction and takes only seconds to perform. Depending on the requirements of your destination, you may be required to demonstrate results that have been created within 48, 72, or 96 hours. The lateral flow antigen test, which uses a swab and a solution on a paper strip to provide a result in 30 minutes, is another option for those in a hurry. This test may be performed at home and is less expensive. As a rule, countries will accept an antigen test completed by a recognized company. In contrast, others may waive the requirement for testing altogether if you can show proof of complete vaccination or possession of relevant Covid-19 antibodies.
